Introductory Physics with Calculus (as a Second Language ) Mastering Problem-Solving
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-09-28 Summary: Keeping life Simple ... I've had a tough time trying to make use out of the heavy textbooks and workbook problems that never seemed to help. The amazing thing with this book is that it keeps it on a simple level and breaks every concept down. It teaches you to recognize certain problems instead of trying to pull your hair out with an ugly set of data. I know there are others out there trying to solve the physics crisis but this is the tool for the job. Sure I will use the heavy text for reference but when it comes to solving actual problems ...more
[2] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-06-01 Summary: Great Book ... I have looked for a book on physics with calculus and found a great shortage of them. There are alot of College Physics supplmental books but very few University Physics ones. Having used the series for Organic Chemistry I would reccoment the series. ...more
[3] Rating: 4 Date: 2007-11-16 Summary: Not bad, pretty good actually but not comprehensive ... Although I suspect the 5 star review is by someone with the company, this book is actually pretty good. Each chapter covers some of the more common problems you will come across along with some very good diagrams. The visual component of this book is one of its strengths. It is by no means a comprehensive book and I'm sure there are more challenging problems out there. Overall it does a nice job of focusing on what you need to know. That being said I think it was a little over priced. The book is pretty small and it ...more

The Language of Physics: The Calculus and the Development of Theoretical Physics in Europe, 1750 - 1870
Customer Reviews
Editorial Reviews ... Product Description | This work is the first explicit examination of the key role that mathematics has played in the development of theoretical physics and will undoubtedly challenge the more conventional accounts of its historical development. Although mathematics has long been regarded as the "language" of physics, the connections between these independent disciplines have been far more complex and intimate than previous narratives have shown. This study encompasses engagements across discipline boundaries...more
Integrated Physics and Calculus, Volume 1
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2005-08-16 Summary: Not a bad idea at all! ... I very much like the idea to integrate Physics and Calculus, because these two are really related to each other. Calculus was `discovered' by Newton, as a tool to make the foundations of modern physics. So you see they are really connected. The book does not need a lot of background (only a little about limits and derivatives) and is excellent for people out Belgium who have finished there ASO. The text is easy readable, but you will not find any "cool" photo's or coloured drawings, but I don't mind that at all! I ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2003-12-23 Summary: Required reading for math and physics majors. ... It was always my philosophy that a student should complete the first two semesters of calculus before beginning physics at the calculus level. I felt it was too much to ask that a student have to tackle beginning calculus and physics at the same time. There is nothing as helpful to learning physical science as a good foundation in mathematics. I took this as irrefutable and never thought I would change my mind. Today I received both volumes of this set. I have been looking at these books for about twelve hours and ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2001-11-11 Summary: A brilliant narration to a most exquisite topic ... The authors of this book have skillfully combined insightful explanations with equally wonderfully examples. This book is excellent for those with little mathematical background interested in exploring the world of physics. The authors keep the reader entertained by maintaining a conversional tone, and a light-hearted spirit. Their love for the material radiates from each and every page. This should be a required text for every college physics class. All to often are there students with missing pieces floating around ...more
Editorial Reviews ... Product Description | Contains a full year's course of both physics and calculus, taking the place of two textbooks that present the subjects separately. Softcover. DLC: Physics. ...more

Error Calculus for Finance and Physics: The Language of Dirichlet Forms (De Gruyter Expositions in Mathematics, 37)
Editorial Reviews ... Product Description | Many recent advances in modelling within the applied sciences and engineering have focused on the increasing importance of sensitivity analyses. For a given physical, financial or environmental model, increased emphasis is now placed on assessing the consequences of changes in model outputs that result from small changes or errors in both the hypotheses and parameters. The approach proposed in this book is entirely new and features two main characteristics. Even when extremely small, errors...more
Mathematical Methods for Introductory Physics with Calculus (Saunders Golden Sunburst Series)
