I've read a couple reviews that say stuff like 'needs adequate examples to cover problems people will potentially be seeing in the problem sections...' I had this book in college & I'm a workaholic. If you assign me 10 homework problems, I'll do 50 & then I'll do them again to make sure I really understood them. There were very few times where there was a problem that couldn't be done. I'm not a 'brain' and the only reason I get good grades in math is due to work ethic, not special ...more

I was looking for a good refresher on Calculus and among my collection of books, I had another Larson Title on pre-calculus which was found to be a very good read. My older Calculus book by Schenk is less fluid and to my delight, this book, "Calculus" by Larson and Edwards, like the "PreCalculus with Limits" by Larson and Hostetler, is easily assimilated. The book is well sectioned and the explanatory text is clear, building naturally upon previous material and backed by a good cadre of examples. This book works with ...more

This book was required for my Calculus II course, and would also be used for Calc I (if I had taken it), as well as Calc III. So far, around 1/3 of the way through the semester, I have found the book to be very helpful. Whenever I had questions about some of the material, I found it was more useful to refer to the book, than my notes. [2] Rating: 4 Date: 2009-09-09 Summary: great tool when the tutor's office is closed ... the book is great - it covers chapters 10 through 17, it has the solutions for all the odd questions (student manuals never give odds and evens). and the solutions are written in a step by step progression that helps cement the correct way to solve the problems. i used the single variable solutions manual for Calc II, and it helped me understand the course enough to finally pass it (with an A), and now that i purchased this manual for calc III I've no doubt i'll pull through again. ...more
