I've looked at other books that seem to jump around from concept to concept, but the approach here is well thought out and the explanations adequate. Formatting (color of text, organization of topics, etc.) makes it easy to find what you're looking for if a section refers you back to a previously studied concept (or forward in some cases) ...more

With a week to go in Calculus II, I needed something to supplement my course's required textbook in order to be successful in the course. The textbook for the course seemed to focus too much on reinforcing concepts from previous chapters at the expense of learning new concepts. For example, when learning Sequences and Series, my course's text would put in challenging integration by parts of trig functions when demonstrating how to use the integral test for evaluating the limit. Most chapters have 2-3 pages briefly summarizing concepts, which helped a lot. When they reference theorems or formulas, however, many times I've found that the section mentioned is nonexistent or unrelated to the topic. It doesn't detract from the book too much, unless this is your primary source for learning calculus (which it isn't intended to do anyways). All in all, I'm glad I got it.
