I used this book for the multiple-choice section and CollegeBoard's own materials for the free-response section. Most of my students scored 5. I also used some of chapters for my IB Mathematics SL and HL students. Most US high-school students feel calculus is too challenging for them since they did not have enough practice in algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus. I used this book solely for the multiple-choice practice problems, not the review or tests, so I can only vouch for the MC problems. The coverage of topics is both broad and deep, with well over 500 problems of varying difficulty. Taking the AP Exam, I felt confident, prepared, and familiar with every problem type. The only complaint I have is the lack of fully developed solutions to the MC problems. This book can save you money at some schools as this edition of the book can cover Calculus I, II, and III; you could end up spending over $300 if you buy the two volume edition of the book. It does a decent job at explaining everything and there are some good exercises in the book. If you actually read through the chapters, you will find yourself picking things up easier, and there are great examples in the reading. For me, it has been excellent, but for someone who struggles with math, it might not be as good. The book keeps the new ideas of calculus short and simple (in particular by leaving out the idea of a limit). But it does expect you to be clever with the algebra you already know. He does a really good job of explaining calculus in a language that is both simple and understandable. However, I do have an issue with this edition. It is in deplorable shape concerning the format of the text -- pages are out of order, words are missing, and sometimes the text encroaches on the inner margin so far that it is hard to read (you have to open the book really wide). There are two equations at the bottom of the page. Let's call them equation 1 and equation 2. Equation 2, the one at the bottom of the page, is supposed to be a restatement of equation 1.
